Home education is a legal alternative to school education in Australia. State and Territory governments are responsible for regulating home education and have different requirements, however home educating families are able to develop curriculum and learning programs to suit the individual needs of their children.

Your Favourite Recipes!
Did you know that cooking is one of the most educational activities you can do? It's so easy to learn and practice math skills when cooking or preparing food. Reading recipes, writing shopping lists, working out quantities and planning meals are all educational tasks! Not to mention dabbling in elementary chemistry by mixing ingredients together and watching what happens. Cooking is education magic!
The children who have contributed items for this website live in Australia and all are educated at home by their parents.

Branden's Special Sultana Cake
"This is a brerakfast cake! And it is YUMMY!"
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup butter 1 egg - beaten 1/2 sultanas In a mixing bowl combine flour, sugar and sultanas. Melt butter, add milk and egg. Pour into a greased/ lined log tin, bake 45 mins or until skewer comes out clean. Serve with butter.
1 ½ Tbsp butter
1 Onion - chopped
1 clove garlic - crushed
410 g tinned tomatoes- (good Italian Roma tomatoes are best)
¼ cup dry red wine
½ cup water (or chicken stock)
2 tsp tomato paste
1 chicken stock cube - crumbled (or fresh stock instead of water)
1 tsp corn flour
1 Tbsp water (extra)
1 tsp sugar
Herbs out of the garden -especially parsl e y and basil
Melt the butter in a saucepan
Soften the onion and garlic in butter
Add undrained tomatoes, wine, water and stock cube (or fresh stock) and tomato paste
Bring to boil
Reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes
Stir in blended cornflour and extra water. Stir constantly over high heat until mixture boils and thickens. Stir in sugar and herbs. Serve tomato sauce with hot pasta.
Marshmallows freeze well
2 Tbsp Gelatin
Dissolve gelatin in water
Place in saucepan
Stir over gentle heat to dissolve
Pour into bowl. Allow to cool
Beat on high speed until mixture is white and fluffy.
Add colour and flavour
Keep beating (and beating.) until very thick.
(You should be able to draw a number 8 in it with a knife but each time I've made this, I can't. When mine is pretty thick, I just put it in the fridge and it still sets. So don't give up)
Put into a tray
Put it in the fridge to set
By the next morning it will be set and you can cut it up and roll it in coconut.
