If you're new here, welcome!

My name is Beverley Paine and I began home educating my children in 1986. Wow! Memories of those days flood into my mind: fresh, wonderful, full of joy... and full of worry... Worry that I didn't know what I was doing, that I had no right to 'experiment' with my children's education in this way, as well as the ever-present worry that I wasn't doing enough as a home educating parent!

Now that my children are adults, making their own way in the world and home educating their own children, I feel as confident as any parent can be. We're very proud of the adults our children have become and know that the unusual education choices we offered them are responsible. It's a good feeling.

Home educating them has been the most wonderful journey. It really does work!

Home education is a legal alternative to school education in Australia. State and Territory governments are responsible for regulating home education and have different requirements, however home educating families are able to develop curriculum and learning programs to suit the individual needs of their children.

You'll find a ton of information on this website, over 1000 pages, collated over four decades of writing about our home educating lifestyle and experiences. I add new content regularly. I love sharing what I learn: subscribe to my Substack blog to stay in touch.

Together with the support of my family, my aim is to help parents educate their children in stress-free, nurturing environments. In addition to building and maintaing this website, I continue to create and manage local and national home educating networks, help to organise conferences and camps, as well as write for, edit and produce newsletters, resource directories and magazines. I am an active supporter of national, state, regional and local home education groups.

I like to pass on information about curriculum resources, providers and suppliers through the comprehensive The Educating Parent Resource Directory. This is complemented by my The Educating Parent Support Groups Directory which lists national and state based online homeschooling and unschooling support group. Sharing information is my enduring passion.

If you want to ask me a question, you can chat to me through my Facebook group, The Educating Parents Homeschooling and Unschooling. I'm there most days, it's where I love to hang out.
